Submission Rules

Project Rebirth (temporary title)

Project Rebirth is an anthology on life, death, growth, and renewal. We are looking for submissions that center hope and the light at the end of the tunnel, as well as sorrowful and grief-ridden submissions. The goal is to arrange the submissions in a way that demonstrates the cycle of life and death, and how humanity perserveres. Please note that this is an overview of terms, not an official contract.

Categories

We are currently only accepting poetry and short stories for this anthology.

Word Count

Fiction: 500 - 10,000 words (max 20 pages)

Poetry: 5 - 550 words (max 5 pages)

AI Policy

We have a strict anti-generative AI policy. All work must be fully human-created and owned. All AI-generated/edited submissions are automatically disqualified.

Accepted Content

We will not accept sexually explicit content or romance. Genres allowed include speculative fiction, horror, mystery, and comedy.  All content must be PG-13. Currently, we ask that vulgar language be removed from submissions. You may submit as many pieces as you like so long as they meet the submission guidelines. Content must be submitted through the Google form. Submissions sent to our email will not be considered.

Rights

Beyond the Stars Press retains the right to reject any pieces as they see fit. We also retain the right to remove content from the anthology at any time.

Exclusivity

Beyond the Stars Press will retain first print rights to pieces published in the anthology with the possibility of continuing printing rights. Exclusivity rights will be retained for the first print run (one year). Any stories previously published will not be accepted and pieces published in the anthology may not be published elsewhere for the first print run. If the piece is removed from the anthology prior to the end of the first print run, the exclusivity rights will revert back to the author. All exclusivity rights automatically revert to the author at the end of the first print run. If your piece is accepted into another anthology and you choose to go with them instead, please notify us as soon as possible.

Editing

Beyond the Stars Press will only complete basic line and copy editing, and proofreading. Any pieces that require extensive developmental and line editing will be declined.

Formatting

We will only accept entries that are either a workable Word Document or Google Doc, or a PDF. Title of the document must include the name of the work and author name. All entries must be double spaced and Times New Roman 12pt font. Please include a short 100-word or less author bio at the beginning of your submission inside the Word Document or Google Doc (your bio's word count will not be added to that of your submissions).

Contract

Authors accepted into the anthology will be required to sign a contract stating that Beyond the Stars Press retains the right to reproduce, publish, and profit off their work. If an author wishes to refuse publication, they may do so before signing the contract. If the author does not sign and return the contract before the stated deadline for that contract, it will be understood that the author refused publication and their work will no longer be considered for publication.

Contract Termination

Submissions may be pulled at any time before the contract is signed. However, pulling a piece and declining publication after a contract is signed but before publication will infer a $80 termination fee in order to compensate for work already put into author's content (editing, formatting, ect). If the author wishes to pull their piece after the first print run,  no fees will be applied.

Compensation

As compensation, authors will recieve an official e-pub copy of the anthology, along with $5 – $20 depending on the length of the piece.

Poetry: $5 – $10

Short Stories: $10 – $20
